Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Your images are processed inside your browser and are not uploaded to Gecko PostPrep or sent to cloud processing.
Is Gecko PostPrep free, and do I need an account?
Gecko PostPrep is free to use and requires no account, sign-in or subscription.
Why is Gecko PostPrep free?
Gecko PostPrep was created as a useful, privacy-friendly tool and as a way for Gecko Art Studio to learn whether people want a more advanced image-preparation application. Processing takes place on your device, so the free version does not require expensive image-processing servers or cloud storage. If there is sufficient public interest, we may develop an optional paid version with advanced features or dedicated desktop and mobile applications.
Will the tool change my original image?
No. All edits are applied to a working copy. Your original file is never overwritten; finished images are saved as new files.
Does removing metadata make an image completely private?
It removes the original location, device and capture metadata from the newly saved image. It cannot remove private information that is visible in the picture, so review the image and hide sensitive areas before saving.
Which image files can I use and save?
You can open JPEG, PNG and WebP images. Choose JPG for most photographs, PNG for graphics or images containing sharp text, and WebP when you want a smaller web image and know the destination accepts it.
Why can an image look blurry after I post it?
Social platforms often resize and compress uploaded images. Preparing the image at the intended dimensions can reduce unnecessary processing, but Gecko PostPrep cannot control any additional compression applied after you upload it.
Why is the same image cropped differently for different platforms?
Posts, stories, thumbnails and other placements use different shapes and aspect ratios. Gecko PostPrep lets you reposition and scale each selected format separately so the important part remains visible.
Why must I save each selected format before continuing?
Each format has its own crop and layout. Saving confirms that its position, captions and watermark are ready before you continue to the final download step.
